Blessings in a Backpack Program is a non-profit organization that feeds school children in the United States who currently are fed during the week on the federally funded Free and Reduced Meal Program and are at risk of going hungry on the weekends. Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD) adopted the program as a Top Teens of American National Service Project.
Each TLOD Area was asked to donate backpacks and/or drawstring bags filled with specified food to a school, homeless shelter, or other entity where services are provided for children in the city where the area conference is held to support the Blessings in a Backpack Program or other similar program.
After providing specified food items at the Area II Leadership Conference held Wilmington, DE, in April, 2016, the Trenton Chapter partnered with Anchor House in Trenton to donate backpacks with food items to homeless children in the community.
Investors Bank, West Trenton Branch, donated the drawstring backpacks to the Trenton Chapter and then set up a receptacle to collect foodstuff from investors Bank employees and customers.
